Air Tractor AT802
AGAIR's fleet of Air Tractor AT-802's are the main stay of our firebombing aircraft fleet. Carrying a payload of up to 3000 litres of fire suppressant and ferrying to a fire of 280 kilometres per hour makes the Air Tractor a very versatile and effective firefighting aircraft. Once on scene, its load of fire suppressant can be delivered in one 3 second drop or split into several drops or even trailed out over longer distances. The aircrafts on-board computer delivery system will be programmed to best suit the job then the pilot can concentrate on flying the aircraft accurately to deliver the load on target.
During the winter season these aircraft undergo a thorough maintenance check and are utilised for agricultural application operations as required. Their load carrying capacity and manoeuvrability make them a very efficient aircraft for both spraying and fertiliser spreading operations.
Turbo Commander 690
The Turbo Commander is a twin engine, high wing passenger transport aircraft used primarily by the fire agencies for aerial supervision of Airtanker operations. Other roles include fire reconnaissance and utility missions carrying up to 5 passengers.
It has a typical cruise speed of 500 kilometres an hour but when on scene can slow down and loiter in the fire area. Its high wing offers excellent visibility from the front seats.
Our Turbo Commander aircraft are equipped with multiple radio and satellite communications and tracking systems to ensure intelligence is relayed to incident controllers in a timely manner.
Our Piper Chieftain is a twin engine load carrying aircraft suitable for moving up to 9 passengers or 1 ton of freight quickly.
Its large rear loading door makes it possible to load bulky items by simply removing some of the seats. Its cruise speed of 325 kilometres an hour and effective range of over 1000 kilometres before needing to refuel means this aircraft is very practical for the movement of small groups of people or emergency delivery of parts or equipment.
Our Cessna 337 Birddog aircraft is a favourite with our fire agencies. Its high wing and inline twin engine configuration makes it very suitable for aerial reconnaissance missions.
It will ferry to an incident at 270 kilometres an hour and loiter on scene for up to 7 hours on a single tank of fuel. The speed of the Cessna 337 is well matched to our Air Tractor AT-802 firebombing aircraft and they are quite often dispatched to an incident together to provide aerial supervision of the fire bomber and real time intelligence back to incident control. Whenever additional fire suppressant loads are required the Cessna 337 will remain on scene to monitor fire development between loads.
Our S2R-T34 Thrush aircraft are the mainstay of our agricultural aircraft fleet. These aircraft have a load carrying capacity of 2000 litres which is less than our firebombing Air Tractors. The smaller size makes them more versatile for spraying and spreading fertiliser from small unprepared airstrips.
The aircraft are simple in design and have systems which makes them very reliable and easy to maintain after working in the harsh agricultural environment.
